Manor Field, Burgess Hill

After School Clubs

A typical afternoon

Our After School Club at Manor Field is located conveniently just a 2-minute walk from Wivelsfield Station and less than a mile from Burgess Hill Station.  Club is based in a standalone double-classroom unit at the front of the school, which provides ample space for a range of art & quiet activities and was fully renovated to meet our needs in 2014.  We also benefit from the use of other areas in the school, including: a large sports hall; Purple House (a room specifically designed & kitted out for our reception-aged children); and The Hub (a more ‘grown up’ environment for children in Years 5 & 6).

Each afternoon begins with our staff collecting and registering children back at Club, where kids have a snack and drink before coming together for ‘daily housekeeping’ (when our manager runs through the activities available that day).  Children then choose an activity to get involved with, before dinner (which is freshly cooked each day) at 5pm.  After finishing eating, it’s time to get back into an exciting activity until collection.

Children choose from the activities available & get stuck into whatever they fancy doing most.

House activity

While one House sets up for dinner, the other Houses all enjoy a brief group activity.

Every day, our catering team freshly cook a healthy and substantial dinner & dessert.

More activities

After re-stocking their energy supply, kids break back into activities to enjoy up until collection.

Sign out

Sign your child out and have a chat with our staff about what they’ve been up to that day.

And then…

We aim to send kids home happy & well fed, leaving just quality time with you before the bedtime routine.

End of School – 6:30pm

After our Staff collect children at the end of the school day, the kids arrive back at club to have a snack and a drink before choosing from a range of free play activities throughout our unit.

After they’ve had a chance to settle in, children tidy up their free play activities and are brought together for our daily housekeeping, where the staff confirm what’s for dinner, what activities are on offer and pass out any messages. The children then choose from the afternoon’s activities.

At dinnertime each house takes a turn to set the tables and then sit down together for a healthy, freshly cooked meal. You can find out more about our meals and see this term’s menu here. Staff and children enjoy their dinner together and then clear away before continuing with the afternoon’s activities.

The walking bus will operate in wet weather, unless the rain is torrential! Therefore, please try to ensure your child has clothing that is suitable for the weather that day (e.g. waterproof coat, sun hat). If the weather is terrible, the children will wait at school (supervised by our walking bus staff) with a box of games & activities until either; the weather passes and they can walk back to club as normal, or a minibus can get to them to collect them.

If my child needs medication will it be administered at Club?

Any medication must be left with the Manager and we ask you to sign a permission form to enable us to give specific medicines.
