FAQ’s

What is the recruitment process?

Once you have looked through our site and decided that you would like to apply to work with us, you will need to complete our application form.  Click the ‘Apply Now!’ button on the menu.  Receipt of your application will be acknowledged either by email or telephone call within two working days.  If we call you this will be to discuss your experience and find out more about why you want to apply for the advertised role.  Our Recruitment Co-ordinator will review your application and if we feel you have the right level of experience and/or qualities you will be invited to attend a ‘Stay & Play’ session at one of our After School Clubs.  If your application is not successful at this stage, we will let you know.  After the ‘Stay & Play’ session you may be invited to attend a formal interview and also an Activity session, where you will be asked to run an activity with a small group of children.

If you are successful at all stages of the process then we will make a provisional job offer, this offer is subject to an enhanced DBS check and two satisfactory references.  We will request your references and you will be sent a Welcome Pack, this will contain your contract of employment and some forms to complete.  You will also be sent an email with information about how to apply for an online DBS certificate (this was formerly a CRB check).  You must apply for your DBS check before you are able to start work for us.

What is a DBS certificate and how do I apply for one?

A DBS (Disclosure and Barring Service) certificate is a record of an individual’s convictions, cautions, reprimands and warnings and can also include other information held by the police and/or The DBS that relates to that individual and their suitability for a job position working with children.  Once you have been offered a job, you will be sent information about how to apply for the certificate.  DBS certificate checks are completed online to speed up the process.

If you live overseas, or have resided in the UK for less than five years then you will need to provide us with a criminal record check from the relevant country/countries that you have lived in.  Each country has a different process for obtaining a criminal record check and if needed, you will be provided with information on how to obtain this check when you are offered a role with us.

Do I need to pay for a DBS certificate?

No, Pioneer Childcare will pay the cost of the DBS certificate for you.  The only condition is that you must successfully complete your probationary period (6 months).

There may be a small charge incurred if you need to request an overseas criminal record check and this varies for each country.

What training will I need to do?

You will be required to attend a company induction training session and this will be offered within the first few weeks of you being offered a role with us and ideally before you start work.

You will also be given the opportunity to obtain a Paediatric First Aid qualification.

What role should I apply for?

If you are not certain which role that you should apply for, then please tick all boxes for the roles that you are interested in on the application form.  We will be able to advise you after interview/activity session which we think would be most appropriate to you.

If we are advertising the same role in more than one location, we will talk to you at your interview about which location would be most suitable.

What is the dress code?

You will be provided with a Pioneer uniform which must be worn at all times in club. You should ensure that your footwear is suitable for running around.

When coming for a Stay & Play or Activity session we recommend that you wear something casual and comfortable that is appropriate for the activity that you are running.  Please bear in mind that you will be working with young children and ensure your clothing is appropriate for this.

When will I be paid?

You will be paid directly into your bank account on the 24th of each month for the previous month e.g. 1st January to 31st January will be paid on 24th February.  You will be required to clock in and out during each shift and will need to check your timesheet each month for accuracy.
